Checklist to Launch, Orbit & Dock
in
Orbiter Space Flight Simulator
This is a step-by-step procedure for getting from Cape Canaveral to the ISS using the standard
Delta Glider in Martin Schweiger's
Orbiter Space Flight Simulator.  The simulation is FREE.  No
add-ons are required for this tutorial.

This checklist is aimed at beginners and is only one way to accomplish a docking procedure.
Orbiter is complex and offers multiple solutions to any problem or goal .  This checklist is how
the author gets the job done but it is not the only way to achieve these goals.

There will be a lot of hand-holding initially but as the tutorial progresses it will assume retention
of the same or similar processes and will move forward with less detailed instructions.

If you are computer savvy and have Orbiter experience you may want to go
here for a truncated
checklist.

There are ways to look forward and combine steps.  However, for simplicity, this checklist will
handle the procedures one step at a time.  As you improve you can explore ways to economize.

Don't worry if your readouts don't match the examples exactly.  In fact that would be impossible.
Just do your best.  The procedures will be explained in a way that should cover almost any
action you may take.  If things get way out of whack, just exit and start fresh.

You can
email the author of this checklist for comments or clarification.  All relevent feedback
will be posted
here.

Orbiter is complex and takes time to master.  The challenge of space flight is what the sim is all
about.  If you aren't ready to try, fail, learn and succeed (in that order) then you need to find
another sim.

The basic steps will be:

Pre-flight Prep
Launch/Ascent/Orbit
Align Orbital Planes
Rendezvous
Dock
